Get Your Cake On!

Hello friends.  Today's card is all about the cake, so let's get our cake on and celebrate!
Personally speaking, my favorite cake flavor is chocolate with peanut butter frosting but this one is pretty in pink, don't you think?

Here's what I did:
I started by cutting this Sue Wilson Designs Scalloped Lattice Frame out of white cardstock and mounted it to a pink A2 sized card base.

Next, I cut the Sue Wilson Make A Cake out of white cardstock.  I added color to the cake pieces using Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Inks.  I added the detail to the cake stand by rubbing ink into the grooves of the die while the cardstock was still inside the die.  This gave a subtle detail which I really loved.

I assembled the cake using Best Glue Ever.  This really is a great glue and it's new at DRU!  It dries clear and quickly and gave a very strong bond.  I also cut an Elizabeth Craft Designs Dotted Scallop Oval out of white card stock and a  blue one using Elizabeth Craft Designs Fitted Ovals.

This is the assembled card.

I mounted the cake using foam dots to give it some dimension.

I enjoyed this cake die so much, I just had to make another birthday card to add to my stash.

I'll be adding one of these cards to the following challenges:
The Card Concept ~ Clean & Layered
Word Art Wednesday ~ Anything Goes
Seize The Birthday ~ Anything Goes
Work It Wednesday ~ Something New (Sue Wilson Make A Cake)

Love your colors, Birgit! The scalloped background is wonderful behind the pretty cake and the blue oval sets it all off perfectly. My mother would always make me a strawberry or pink cake when I was little. I just love this card so much.

I LOVE cake and both of yours look wonderfully yummy! Chocolate with peanut butter fosting...hmmmmmmm, might have to try that! My favorites are chocolate with white frosting and white with white fosting...I know, I know,...pretty simple, but oh so good!! But anyway, your cakes are done just beautifully with all the shading and I love that background die you used too!! :0)

My favourite cake is a Victoria Sponge with jam and cream in the middle and strawberries and cream on top - oh delicious! The pink on this cake makes me think of it. I just love all the delicious elements coming together on this card. Thank you so much for playing along with us at the Card Concept. Ruth DT xx

Oh YUM! Love the soft pretty colors and that fabulous tiered cake! That background die cut on your 1st one is spectacular, so pretty! The design and layout on your 2nd one is perfect! (luckily I actually baked a cake last night--nothing fancy like this, just from a box lol) Well done!
